Cheeky Challenge - SHAPES

This week the Cheeky Challenge theme is SHAPES.  To create the background  I started with a textured paper and used the hue and saturation button to change it into shades of blue and pink. The shapes were cut from software templates and the opacity reduced so as to show the shapes underneath.  Not sure where the image comes from.  I coloured it from the original sepia.

Sunday Postcard Art - Altered Postcard

Albany, Western Australia, is 200 miles south of where I live.  It is noted for its pristine beaches which face the Southern Ocean.  I have altered the postcard by overpainting using ArtRage digital painting software.  The kangaroos were Googled. ENLARGE FOR A BETTER VIEW - IT'S WORTH IT!

Take a Word - BOTANICAL

This week at Take a Word the theme is BOTANICAL.  I started with a black and white unclothed lady from e-vint.com, coloured her  and added a botanical flavoured costume using leaves and flowers from Itkupilli. I painted the background using ArtRage digital painting software. The quote or a version thereof comes from the Madonna song, "Material Girl".  E-vint.com, a great supplier of vintage photos, has disappeared without a trace.  Fortunately, I have a large collection.

Digital Whisper Challenge - RACCOONS.

Had some fun with raccoons.  Both were Googled, I made the wanted sign and gave Pepe a new disguise.

Cheeky Challenge - Alice in Wonderland

This isn't really Alice in Wonderland.  It's a photo of my aunt, Eileen, aged 12, born in 1900.  I extracted her and added colour and a new pair of boots (Googled).  Other Alice style elements and background are from Irene Alexeeva (no longer designing).  Unfortunately Eileen drank from the bottle and is now large enough to fill a room.

This week at SPA the theme is ANATOMY.  The image was Googled and the background is made from a scanned dictionary page, aged and coloured. Butterflies from the archives of my stash, collected over the years.

Sunday Postcard Art - Baroque

I chose to look at the Baroque period in art and found this lovely painting of "girl in red hat" which was created by Johannes Vermeer (1632-1675).  I have given her a different background, added a bird and, yes, I enlarged the hat somewhat.  The background is from Itkupilli.  See below for original painting.

The Three Muses Challenge - Bathing Beauties

This week at the Muses the theme is BATHING BEAUTIES.  My bathing beauty is from Tangie Baxter (from a very old kit I've had for years).  The various papers and sun are from Fiddlette.  Stockings and going-out shoes on the beach?  I don't think so.

Digital Whisper - Prince

This week at Digital Whisper the theme is PRINCE.  I'm not sure if this is supposed to be THE PRINCE or if any prince or would-be prince will do!  Background pieces from Lorie Davison and Lauren Bavin.  Princess and Frog Prince painted by me in ArtRage digital painting software.

Take a Word Challenge - Monochrome

This week at Take a Word the theme is MONOCHROME.  I have chosen shades of pink (for a change) and this is an Ozstuffe Originale, painted in ArtRage digital painting software.

Sunday Postcard Art - Black and White

This week at SPA the challenge is BLACK AND WHITE.  I think I've spent my whole life as a square peg in a round hole! Background paper, pearl bangle, butterfly from Irene Alexeeva (no longer designing).  The square peg is my own creation.

Cheeky Challenge - Mosaics

June has challenged us to create a mosaic which is a tough task.  The picture is from my archives - a background painted by me using ArtRage digital painting software, a transparent "brush" of Mona Lisa which I made from the famous portrait, a collection of interesting Photoshop brushes and finally a tile pattern overlay which I found in PhotoImpact software, one of the many digital art programs I have in my stash.  It's a bit "faux" but I hope it's near enough to being a mosaic.

Digital Whisper Challenge - Cleopatra Collage

A Cleopatra collage for Digital Whisper.  Main image of faux Cleopatra is from e-vint.com (no longer selling images).  Everything else was Googled.

Take a Word Challenge - MAKEOVER

I have taken this image from a painting by El Greco and altered it by adding a paper costume and crown.  The background pieces are all from Irene Alexeeva (no longer designing).
